Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2023

Our vision at SASS is for a healthy, safe Tasmania free from sexual harm. To achieve this, we need to educate Tasmanians – and this is what Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or SAAM is about!

SAAM runs right through April. It provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations to help increase public awareness about sexual assault and abuse. SAAM 2023 is all about consent.

CONSENT IS A CONVERSATION

So, let's get the conversation started in April this year! By raising awareness and educating our community, including schools, workplaces, homes, social settings and online, we can all help play our part in preventing sexual assault. Image removed.

SAAM is also a great time to show your support for survivors. You can host a workplace morning tea, come along to one of our partner events listed below or join in a workshop. Grab a teal ribbon or a teal wristband for a $2 donation - it's less than the cost of a coffee and you'll be making a real difference.

All donations will go directly into providing support and services for survivors of sexual violence, as well as consent training for schools and local organisations.  And SASS is a registered charity, so donations over $2 are tax deductible.

  • Join our Teaching Kids Consent online. If you're a parent or a carer for children/teenagers, this is a workshop not to be missed, and because it's SAAM we are offering it for a $15 donation to our fundraising.
