Why work at SASS?

At Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS), you’ll be part of a specialist, trauma-informed organisation committed to supporting victim-survivors of sexual violence and their families. Every day, your work contributes to breaking cycles of harm, strengthening recovery, and fostering safer communities grounded in respect, dignity, and accountability.

If you’re passionate about prevention, advocacy, and creating meaningful change, this is an opportunity to make a real and lasting difference.

About the role

Sexual violence is preventable. As Primary Prevention Manager, you will lead SASS’s primary prevention portfolio, shaping and strengthening initiatives that address the drivers of sexual harm before it occurs.

This role is central to SASS’s mission. You’ll provide strategic leadership across prevention programs in schools, universities, workplaces, and community settings, while building strong partnerships with government and sector stakeholders. You’ll lead a skilled team, translate research into practice, and ensure our prevention work remains ethical, effective, and evidence based.

Through your leadership, you’ll help create cultures of consent, safety, and equity, contributing to statewide systems change and long-term community impact.

The Primary Prevention Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading the design and delivery of SASS’s primary prevention initiatives (including CaRE and workplace programs)
  • Strengthening partnerships with education, community, research and industry sectors
  • Embedding evaluation, learning and continuous improvement across the portfolio
  • Leading, supervising and supporting capability building within the prevention team
  • Contributing to statewide reform conversations and policy initiatives
  • Managing budgets, funding contracts and reporting with integrity and care

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working at both strategy and implementation levels, is curious and reflective, and brings a calm, values-led approach to complex work.

We encourage you to apply for this role if you have:

  • Qualifications in public health, social sciences, education, psychology, counselling, social work, health promotion, or related fields
  • Experience leading programs or teams in prevention, health promotion, community services or systems reform
  • Strong partnership-building skills and comfort working across sectors
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice, gender equality and child safeguarding
  • A commitment to collaborative leadership, learning and psychological safety at work
  • Have a current Working with Vulnerable People Card and be willing to obtain a National Police Check

Benefits

This position will be a 0.8FTE – 1FTE permanent position. All SASS employees are entitled to full salary packaging benefits, flexible work arrangements, professional development and supervision, paid parental leave, and additional paid leave over the Christmas period.

This role is located at the SASS offices in the Hobart CBD, with some interstate travel required.
