About the role

SASS has secured a federal grant to deliver a dedicated project within the Prevention, Assessment, Support and Treatment (PAST) Program. This is a project-focused clinical role, combining project coordination with therapeutic practice within an established specialist team.

The PAST Program supports children and young people (under 18) who have engaged in problematic and/or harmful sexual behaviour. Delivered statewide in partnership with Mission Australia, the program works with young people who may present with complex trauma histories, neurodiversity, disability or other complex needs.

In partnership with Latrobe University, this project will build upon and improve the PAST Program through the development, implementation and evaluation of an additional evidence-based, trauma-informed clinical pathway with a focus on brief interventions for clients.

Your role as Project Coordinator will include:

  • Leading implementation of the project workplan, the role involves managing project milestones and priorities
  • Using contemporary visual communication tools (e.g. Canva) to support the development of evidence based clinical resources
  • Coordinate data collection, maintain data bases, analyse trends and undertake program evaluation (in partnership with La Trobe)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team guided by strong clinical governance

About You

  • You are someone who cares about making a difference. You hold a relevant qualification in counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field, and you have hands-on experience coordinating projects or delivering programs that achieve meaningful outcomes.
  • You are confident using digital tools such as Microsoft Office and Canva, and you are comfortable working with data. This includes not only collecting information, but also analysing it to identify insights and support continuous service improvement.
  • With a background in a clinical context, you demonstrate a strong understanding of sexual violence, child safety, and social justice, and you apply a thoughtful, trauma-informed approach in your work.
  • You build strong, respectful relationships with stakeholders and work collaboratively to achieve shared goals.
  • You are also required to hold, or be willing to obtain, a current National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Registration.

This is complex, purposeful work within a supportive, collaborative team environment. Practitioners in the PAST Program receive specialised training, reflective practice support and clear clinical governance, enabling sustainable, ethical and trauma-informed practice.

This position will be a 0.6FTE fixed term 2-year contract position. All SASS employees are entitled to full salary packaging benefits, flexible work arrangements, professional development and supervision, and additional paid leave over the Christmas period. This role is located at the SASS offices in the Hobart CBD.
